ARTISTS, RADIO & LATE-STARTS

Daniel has performed & recorded with top USA, UK & European blues & jazz artists;

...played numerous international blues, boogie woogie and jazz festivals;

...and featured on BBC, Spanish & USA radio.

His music is broadcast on international blues and jazz radio shows;

He started 'late', joining Sonny Black & The Dukes in 1994, aged 27;

Then, 1999 saw Daniel launch his own band, releasing his 1st album, 'Southside Boogie'.

AWARDS AND CHARITY WORK

Daniel has 5 British Blues Foundation nominations, 'Best UK Blues Keyboardist'; & one as Jools Holland's Boisdale of London Best Boogie Pianist. Furthermore, he has been recognised for his MS Society fundraising.

BOOGIE WOOGIE PIANO ROOTS

48 years! That's how long DS has been playing boogie. His mother showed him a left-hand bass aged 8; he had classical training; but his blues/jazz roots run back to mother's pianist father, who led a jazz band in 1930's Jakarta, Indonesia. He was especially inspired by the boogie of his Dutch-Indo uncle on visits to Holland.

The records of Daniel's father also inspired, introducing him to Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Memphis Slim, Otis Spann, Ramsey Lewis, Dr John & Ray Charles : artists' styles that Daniel projects via his playing.
