PIANO ROOTS
50 years! Daniel's mother taught him a basic boogie aged 8; he had classical training; but his performing roots run back to mother's pianist father, who led a jazz band in 1930s Jakarta, Indonesia. He was especially inspired by the boogie of his uncle on visits to Holland.
PIANO STYLES
The records of Daniel's artist father also inspired, introducing him to Albert Ammons, Dr John, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles et al.
