> WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? BLUES OR BOOGIE WOOGIE PIANO?

DANIEL WILL OPEN HIS SESSIONS WITH ANALYSING SOME KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO...

Whilst the two styles have many similar characteristics, and many artists play(ed) both blues piano and boogie woogie piano at different times... it's useful to grasp some fundamental divergencies. Daniel will set out some key components of each, in his sessions. Whilst doing so, he will demonstrate other generic styles that he himself includes in his live sets, namely:- New Orleans Piano; Rock'n'Roll; and Soul-Jazz. He will also touch on Mainstream Jazz; Ragtime; Rhythm'n'Blues; Stride; and other related genres... plus refer to his YouTube tutorials (see 'KEY INGREDIENTS' below).

To start with, check Daniel's favourite influential piano / keyboards artists...

> A RECORDING HISTORY

THE JOURNEY TO "PINE TOP'S BOOGIE WOOGIE"

Daniel has drafted a fascinating KEY DATES, EVENTSRECORDINGS summary: the recording history of, first, ragtime, then jazz, also blues... but all with the 'Holy Grail' aim of charting the journey to Clarence "Pine Top" Smith's recording of PINE TOP'S BOOGIE WOOGIE - the track that gave us the term! He even goes one recording further, to illustrate the boogie-woogie-with-vocals that many consider the direct forerunner of rock'n'roll.
